Isabella Tejeda '20 was recently selected by America's Promise Alliance, in partnership with Facebook Education as one of 50 top youth leaders from across the nation to attend the State of Young People Summit at Facebook headquarters in Menlo Park, California. At the 3 day summit, participants were given the opportunity to share their passions and ideas for social change with 150 of the nations's top adult activists, business, and community leaders. At the end of the conference, they created and kicked off a year-long initiative to put their shared voices and youth leadership into action. Isabella reported "The experience of sharing ideas with other social activists from across the nation, both young and old, has been life changing."
The State of Young People Summit was an unprecedented gathering of the nation’s top youth leaders and organizers, coming together to articulate their experiences and work in collaboration to drive change. The summit served as the launchpad where youth leaders work side-by-side with national non-profit and business leaders – to create new platforms and opportunities for youth to engage and take action in bold ways on the most pressing issues of the day.
