Ms. Shannon Gavin named to "OC's 15 Fan Favorites"

Congratulations to Ms. Shannon Gavin for being named to the "OC's 15 Fan Favorites" list by Parenting OC Magazine. The honor comes from parent and student nominations.

"History in most high school hallways may be known as the “boring class”. However this is not the case at Rosary High School. In Room 202 you will find the wonderful Ms. Gavin teaching World history, Geography, American Studies, and The Holocaust," says one of her students. "Ms. Gavin’s course has made me a versatile student, and educated me in current global issues."

Ms. Shannon Gavin joined the Rosary faculty in 1999 and currently teaches World History, World Regional Geography, and Honors American Studies. She has also taught US Government, AP US Government, Economics, and Developmental Psychology over the years at Rosary. Furthermore, Ms. Gavin has created the curriculum for three different and popular elective courses: World Regional Geography, The History of American Women, and The History of the Holocaust.

Before becoming a member of Rosary’s Social Studies Department, Ms. Gavin received her bachelor of arts degree in history from the California State University at Long Beach in 1998, with an emphasis in medieval British history and early modern European history. She holds a California teaching credential, and is working toward a master’s degree in American history.

In 2010, Ms. Gavin was honored to receive recognition as Teacher of the Year by the University of California at Irvine, after having been nominated by a Rosary alumna from the class of 2009. At various times over the years, Ms. Gavin has served as moderator for the History Club, the Invisible Children Club, and Junior State of America.
