QUEENS, N.Y. – With a record-breaking regular season all wrapped up, the St. John’s softball team (27-22, 12-8 BE) saw five members of its second-seeded squad earn All-BIG EAST honors as announced by the league on Tuesday.

Junior Erin Burner and freshman Kaitlin Fitzgerald were named to the All-BIG EAST First Team on Tuesday while sophomore Tori Free, senior Jackie Reed and freshman Brittany Garcia each received All-BIG EAST Second Team accolades.

Burner received one of only two unanimous selections in the league-wide voting after the most impressive season in her career. This year, the junior catcher posted a .389 average that includes 11 doubles, a triple, 14 home runs and 40 RBI for a team-leading .739 slugging percentage and has been the hero for the Red Storm on more than one occasion.

Fitzgerald claimed the third-baseman honors on the first team after a stellar rookie season where she slid comfortably in the clean-up spot of the lineup, finishing the regular season with a .367 batting average including 11 doubles and three home runs while tallying 27 RBI and a .503 slugging percentage.

The five all-conference selections will look to lead their team at the 2014 BIG EAST Tournament on Friday, May 9, as it takes on third-seeded Georgetown in the semifinals, live on FOX Sports GO, starting at 4:30 p.m. ET.
