On February 17, the Orange County Register’s Varsity Arts section published the nominees for their second-season Artists of the Year. These students were nominated by their high schools, and represent the top performers in theater, dance, instrumental music, vocal music, visual arts, and film/video artists in Orange County schools. After reading statements from the performers and their teachers, reviewing their performances and submitted work, and looking at their artistic resumes the list of 213 nominees was narrowed to a top 10 for each of the 6 categories. Out of 42 students originally nominated for the theater category, including performers, designers, directors, and technicians, Rosary’s own Caitlin Crawley was chosen as a top 10 finalist.
Later this month, a panel of theater experts will interview the Top 10 to determine who will be named Artist of the Year for the theater category. The winners for each category will be announced on May 21 in the Orange County Register’s Varsity Arts section.
