Rosary's "Shining Stars"

Aidan Crowley '11, and Carolina Rios-Martinez '10 were chosen to represent Rosary Academy in the Disneyland Resort "Dreamers & Doers" program, which celebrates the power of possibility and the youth who actively help improve their community, home or school. Orange County schools were invited to submit the names of two students who have taken action to create a brighter tomorrow in four focus areas: Conserve Nature; Live Healthier; Think Creatively; and Strengthen Community. Students needed to meet certain eligibility criteria, including residency in Orange County, good academic and character standing, and a completed application.

From the nominated group of all students, 60 were identified by Disney as "Shining Stars" and invited to attend a Celebration Luncheon in February along with two family members and a representative from their school. Both Rosary nominees were selected to this prestigious group, which also included 2- Park Hopper tickets and a medal of recognition for the girls, and a $1,000 grant for Rosary. They will now advance to the next round, with six finalists announced at the luncheon. The six students chosen from among the "Shining Stars" will receive a Disneyland Resort weekend prize package to enjoy with their families, along with additional surprises.

As part of their desire to inspire youth to take action in creating a brighter tomorrow, Disneyland Resort will host a one-day "Dreamers & Doers" Symposium this spring for all 60 “Shining Stars” to discuss issues that affect youth, and create solutions that they can implement in their school and community.

We are very proud of our "Shining Stars", and wish them well at the luncheon and symposium, and thank the Disneyland Resort for their commitment to the community.
