Rosary Day Scholarships Announced

The Lauri Chiaretta Memorial Scholarship honors a 1981 graduate of Rosary who is remembered for her outstanding character, values, and concern for others. She was always very involved in the Rosary community. She died in a boating accident while trying to save her friend.

The Chiaretta family presented this year's scholarship to Laurel Kessler, stating "she is involved in Tri-School theatre, Comedy Sportz, served in campus ministry, and as a Red & Gold captain, helps her sisters through Peer Assistance Leadership, and is a Royal Ambassador. For her, Rosary means sisterhood."

The Kathleen Faley Memorial Scholarship was named for a 1977 graduate of Rosary who represented an outstanding spirit of involvement, academic achievement, friendship, and concern for others. Following her death in an automobile accident in 1987, the Faley family established this memorial scholarship in her memory. The Faley family was pleased to honor two outstanding Rosary seniors with a generous tuition scholarship.

Monique Cendejas is involved in CSF, NHS, Peer Assistance Leadership, JV water polo, and was a Red & Gold captain for Gold Props. She fell in love with Rosary at the age of 7 when she saw her first Red & Gold performance.  This self-described “shy girl my freshman year” says Rosary gave her the opportunity to find her voice and made her into the leader she is today.  She wants to attend a four-year college where she will study chemical engineering and apply for ROTC.

Isabella Jeturian is involved in CSF, NHS, ASB, volleyball, yearbook, the international club, campus ministry, and key club.  She is also a youth minister, altar server for her parish, a tutor at Kumon Learning Center, and an intern for Assemblywoman Ling Ling Chang’s State Senate campaign. She says, “Rosary is the place where I can be my true, weird and awkward self and not be afraid to show it.  I know my fellow Panda sisters will always be there with me through the happy times like Rosary Day and even the hardest times like AP testing.  We are family and we stick together through our faith.  I am surrounded by people I truly love, and will never forget what you all have given me.”

She hopes to one day be a dentist and surrounded by people she loves and her family; however her main goal in life is to be truly happy, and with God’s grace, make her way into heaven.
