Rosary Academy Athletics is pleased to announce that volleyball associate head coach Chas Hamann has been selected to serve Rosary as the head lacrosse coach. He will be joined by Royal English teacher Greg Chavez.
Coach Hamann has coached in the volleyball program for two years. He is excited to be sharing over twenty years of coaching experience to help feed the "Mind,” "Body," and "Spirit" of each lacrosse player to help her become the best player and person she can be. Coach Hamann is the father of assistant varsity volleyball coach Laura Hamann, Rosary class of 2014, and has been an avid supporter of the Rosary/Servite community and their athletic programs. He is excited to work with Coach Chavez to continue the positive, motivating, and supportive atmosphere of the Rosary lacrosse program which was so important to “retired” Coach Chris Grijalba.
He was a varsity basketball and volleyball player in high school and his club volleyball team played in the 1981 Junior Olympics in Omaha, Nebraska. Coach Hamann has been married to his wonderful wife, Mariellen for almost 30 years and they are the proud parents of son Mark, Servite class of 2012 and daughter Laura.
Athletic Director Tom Tice is very happy about this coaching addition, and had this to say about Coach Hamann: "The student-athletes and families of Rosary lacrosse are very passionate and justifiably proud about their program. Chas is the perfect person to carry that enthusiasm into the future, and he and Greg Chavez will form a strong partnership in leading this sport to new heights."
