Karina Figueroa '05 Spoke at Richard Yoon's Youth Basketball Camp

On Thursday, July 13, Karina Figueroa ’05 came to Coach Yoon’s youth basketball camp to speak to the campers. She has done this before, honoring her Rosary past by passing along her experiences in the world of sports to the young people who attend this camp.

In her four years at Rosary, she led all of Orange County with 8.1 assists per game to earn first team all-county honors as a senior. She earned first-team All-Orange County honors in 2003-04 and was chosen as the 2004-05 CIF 3A Player of the Year, and two-time Serra League MVP. She broke the school record for assists and steals.

After graduation she became a member of the Peruvian National Team.  At Long Beach State, Karina won numerous All-Big West honors starting as a freshman. In 2010, Karina played with the LA Sparks organization and later traveled overseas to play in Poland.

Karina has always wanted to give back to the organizations that have molded her. As the head coach for over six years, she has helped OC Rhythm Basketball become a top tier club team in Orange County and encourages players to pursue their goal of playing collegiate basketball.

Karina was inducted into the Rosary Academy Wall of Fame in 2016.

We are so grateful to Karina for her continuing interest in, and kindness to, the future athletes of Rosary Academy.
