Alumna has film entered into British Film Festival

Haven is a short documentary film set in Malawi, Africa addressing the overwhelming problem of orphans due to issues of extreme poverty and HIV/AIDS. The film focuses on the Smile Malawi Orphanage - an NGO started nearly 13 years ago by an English woman named Elspeth Baecke. About 45 children currently live in the home, which provides them with food, clean water, clothing, and most importantly, education. It is an incredible home and provides a sense of family for these children.

The film, which Bella co-produced while a student at Chapman University, has been entered into the British Charity Film Awards.  Bella is hoping for increased exposure to the film, which may then lead to more funding for the orphanage. You can view the documentary, and vote for it online at https://www.charityfilmawards.com/id/70254. It takes less than a minute to pop in an email to vote. Voting ends this Friday, Dec. 15 at noon Pacific Time.
