Alumna Chelsea Gonzales ’13 made her debut this past week with the Mexican National Softball Team. The squad played in the International Cup hosted by Team USA in Irvine. Chelsea, who played four seasons at Arizona State (and served as a graduate assistant coach in 2018), made her international debut on Monday, July 9, against Canada. She also got her first hit in that game. Chelsea and Team Mexico are playing a series of tournaments this summer and fall with an eye towards qualifying for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. Chelsea and many of her American-born teammates are able to compete for Mexico as long as one of their four grandparents was born in that country.
