ROSARY CROSS COUNTRY
Head Coach Jen Burley Murphy '02
Jen (Burley) Murphy was a four-year varsity runner for Rosary’s cross country and track teams from 1998-2002. She was named Freshman Athlete of the Year and was a Scholar Athlete all four years at Rosary. Murphy ran cross country and track for the University of California, Santa Barbarm and conmpeted at the national level in triathlon. In 2005 Murphy was the assistant coach for the San Marcos Division I boys’ and girls’ cross country teams. In 2011-02012 , Murphy assisted Coach Richard Gibbs as Servite High School’s distance track coach and cross country coach. This is Coach Murphy’s fifth cross country season at Rosary. Coach Murphy has a Master’s degree in English from the University of California, Irvine. When she is not helping the Royals run faster and jump higher, she is at home caring for her three children, Timmy, Matty and Chloe Jane, with her husband Jeff Murphy.
Assistant Coach Brian Burley
During his 37 years as a middle school teacher in the La Habra City School District, Brian Burley has coached boys’ and girls’ cross country, wrestling, softball, baseball, basketball, flag football, soccer and track & field. He has also coached all three of his daughters in soccer. Coach Burley has been a coach for Rosary and Servite’s track & field programs for the last eleven years and his focus has been on jumps. For the past five years he has been coaching girls’ basketball and both girls and boys volleyball at St. Juliana Falconieri School.
Assistant Coach Jen Lutfi '17
Jen Lutfi ran cross country and track for the Royals all four years. She served as Varsity cross country captain her senior year, and ran the 800 meter, 1600 meter, and 3200 meter races in track. Jen was a scholar athlete all four years, and was recognized by the OC Catholic in an athlete profile her senior year. After graduating from Rosary in 2017, she continued her education at California State University, Fullerton. Jen is currently a sophomore Communicative Disorders major at CSUF.
