Speak to Inspire

Held each semester and open to all students, Speak to Inspire offers educational forums, workshops, and lunch & learns as well as bigger events such as Women in STEM, Women in Business, and Career Day. Partly managed by students, Speak to Inspire brings together students, parents, alumnae, and friends of Rosary Academy to prepare our Royals for success in college and beyond.

Join us for our last Speak to Inspire of the year, The College Years, on Tuesday, April 12, at 8:00 am in the LEC! Ranging from first-years to seniors, Rosary alumnae will share insight on why they picked their college, how they managed the transition, and what they know now they wish they knew in high school.

MARCH 22, 2022: Entrepreneurship with Elsa McCafferty

Elsa McCafferty is a CPA, Entrepreneur, and Real Estate Investor and Developer. She was the former principal at Ebro Accounting and Consulting, a full-service accounting practice, and is a former Area Developer and Entrepreneur at Liberty Tax in Orange County. Mrs. McCafferty is a graduate of the Cal State Fullerton School of Business and Economics. She is currently serving as the Chief Finance Officer for her own real estate projects and businesses. She has overcome adversity and challenges and is now recognized as a leading Entrepreneur in Orange County.

NOVEMBER 9, 2021: Leadership with Laura Ramos '82

Laura Ramos ’82 is the CEO for Providence St. Jude Medical Center. With more than 35 years of health care experience, Laura started as the manager of critical care and step down units. Later she became the director of cardiology, neurology, and emergency services, was named vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer in 2014, followed by the chief operating officer in 2020 and the chief executive officer in 2021. Laura is also mother to Rosary alumnae Jessica Ramos ’02, Jaclyn Ramos ’08, and Julie Ramos ’12.

OCTOBER 19, 2021: Engineering with Roxanne Ahmadi & Kayla Maechler

Fine Arts major goes STEM. Studied geographic information science and geospatial intelligence for my undergrad and graduate degrees, respectively. I have worked in the public and private sectors on projects for the CA High-Speed Rail, City of LA Olympics prep, as well as on space systems, projects for national and homeland security, real estate development, and on safety enhancements for high-pressure pipelines.

Kayla Maechler is a staff engineer at Golder. Golder is a member of WSP, a leading global specialized engineering consulting organization. Golder offers unique specialized skills to address the ever-evolving challenges that earth, environment, and energy present to clients across the infrastructure, mining, oil and gas, manufacturing and power sectors. Ms. Maechler completed her BS in Environmental Engineering at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

SEPTEMBER 21, 2021: Psychology with Nicole Murillo, Ph.D., BCBA

Dr. Murillo is a ’97 Cornelia Connelly alumna. After Connelly, she completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at UCLA and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology. She is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist specializing in psychological and psychoeducational assessment and testing working primarily with children and adolescents. Her passion is working with children and their families to help discover each person’s unique strengths and challenges.
